Adams & Martin Group has partnered with a prestigious Downtown Los Angeles law firm to find an experienced Temporary to Hire T&E Paralegal to join their team. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. The role offers a hybrid work option, allowing one day of remote work per week after the introductory period.
Position Overview
The T&E Paralegal will support attorneys in the Trust & Estates practice, handling a variety of estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters. The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail, be proactive, and possess excellent organizational skills. Frequent interaction with clients is expected, requiring a professional and personable demeanor.
Key Responsibilities
- Support attorneys with the preparation and funding of estate plans, including deeds, asset transfers, beneficiary updates, and property tax-related filings.
- Draft estate planning documents and trust administration materials for attorney review.
- Monitor and manage estate plan timelines, key dates, and procedural checklists.
Probate & Court-Related Support
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to probate proceedings and trust accountings.
- Assist with drafting pleadings, correspondence, and other filings related to probate and trust disputes.
- Ensure court documents and filings are properly organized, filed, and tracked.
Tax & Entity Support
- Gather financial information and supporting materials for estate tax return preparation.
- Assist with initial drafts of estate tax returns for review by attorneys.
- Prepare formation documents for business entities, including LLCs and nonprofit corporations, and assist with ongoing entity maintenance and amendments.
Client & Team Collaboration
- Participate in client meetings and conference calls, including note-taking and follow-up support.
- Draft clear, professional correspondence and internal memoranda.
- Prepare agendas, exhibits, and supporting materials for client and board meetings.
- Work closely with the Trust & Estates team to maintain organized, up-to-date client files.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in trust administration, estate planning, and probate.
- Prior experience with probate court filings and e-filing preferred.
- Strong drafting, proofreading, and organizational skills.
- High level of technical proficiency and comfort working with document management systems.
- Experience with iManage or a comparable system preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Notary commission is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple matters while maintaining accuracy and discretion.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Familiarity with legal research platforms such as Westlaw.
- Experience managing electronic files and document databases.
